Nobody Listens!
By Joe Rossini

Those who know me well have heard me continuously repeat my favorite human character flaw “Nobody Listens!” It's a reliable phenomenon. A title of a book I plan to write in the future.

Yes, we live in a world of information overload with so many different opinions constantly bombarding us. So who are we to listen to?

Let's take a look at a real life example of conflicting opinions that bombard us and can confuse us about the value of listening. If you are interested in the stock market, you could watch CNBC for more than 12 hours each day, as the newscasters, analysts and CEO’s from Public companies give you their free opinions. They are the so-called authorities whose opinions many unfortunate investors follow, only to lose their hard earned money. That's not to say you should avoid investing in stocks. But who should you listen to for advice? Unfortunately very little in life is perfect. Everyone on CNBC has his or her own agenda for GIVING YOU FREE ADVICE. But as unreliable as some advice might be, it should not stop you from seeking the advice from sources you know and trust from your past expereriences. Look for successful authorities with honest track records, who are knowledgeable and reliable. Listen carefully, make good decisions, plan well, and then take action to get the results you want, using the shortest and most predictable route.

For example, how much grief and frustration could many children avoid if they "just listened" to their parents, who in most cases give excellent advice? Or how much time and aggravation can some employees save, if they listened to their supervisor’s instructions, learned in the classroom of the “School of Hard Knocks?”

I consider myself very fortunate, to have been taught at an early age to respect my elders. I did not always agree with my elders. But I respected them. I also learned early in life that they had more WISDOM than I had. They already experienced what I was experiencing and could give me advice that could help me avoid the mistakes that they made at my age. So respecting them plus acknowledging their Wisdom made it easier for me to LISTEN.

Throughout this website, we will be searching for and presenting to you lots of ideas and suggestions, which could save you time and help you avoid frustrations and aggravation. I believe if you LISTEN to some good suggestions and are able to avoid the frustrations of trial and error, you will enhance your chances for more pleasure and happiness in life.
